Magical Trip

IMG_0515.JPG
Down the stairs all the way to Scott’s Huts copy room. Scott Hut's copy room looks exactly like his house at Antarctica. His house looks amazing, imagine if we lived there in the freezing cold weather.

Kelly Tarltons got it’s name from a man called Kelly Tarlton. He died in 1985, he died in his sleep. The reason why they named it after him was because he was known for diving and archaeology.

Kelly Tarltons is an amazing place, it looks big when you're inside and it looks small when you’re standing outside. We visited the Penguins first, then the Sting Ray. There were 3 short tail Sting Ray and they were called Phoebe.

The Stingrays were massive and Intelligent. The Stingrays weighed around 200lbs. Cathy was the person who feed the Stingrays, she feed them with little squids. After that we headed off to the Shark tunnel.

In the Shark tunnel there were School Sharks, Broadnose Shark, Sand Tiger, Wobbegong Shark, Sea Turtle and many more. Shark time was over and it was time to go and see the Seahorse and the Sea Dragon.

Seahorses and the Sea Dragons were pretty amazing, it takes a millisecond for a Seahorse to eat one shrimp. Sea Dragons were long and thick, they were beautiful creatures. A minute after watching the Seahorses and the Sea Dragon it was time to head to the classroom and do some activities.

From time to time we all had fun and enjoyed every minute we spent at Kelly Tarltons. It was time to head back to school, I loved every creature they were beautiful and amazing.

Sailing

The day of Sailing had finally arrived. We had just arrived at Kohimarama just in time to start our session . My class had the opportunity to participate in a program named Sailing , Have A Go! Before sailing we had set up the Yacht.  After preparing the Yachts, we rolled it down to the beach. Our task was to reach the tilly out at sea.

Our instructor was Reuben, he helped us with our sailing, he gave us tips about sailing.  My partner was Valenisia, she was heavier than me. She wasn't allowed to lean back or else the boat will sink.  Going with her was funny and loud, she was controlling the wheel and I was controlling the ropes.  Controlling the ropes was fun, because all I had to do was to pull the ropes so the boat can go fast.

“Hurry up and get changed girls!” shouted Mr Slade. “I am finally finished” I thought to myself as we walked out of the trailer. We all hopped into the car exhausted and tired, and headed back to school.

Kiwi Sport - Touch

LEARN: To share my experience of what I did today

My experience about today’s lesson was to pay attention and listen carefully to what the coach is teaching us. I experience that playing touch can be difficult and it similar to riper. I learnt how to use strategies for getting a tries, our coach gave us simple tips for defending the other players.

My Holiday Recount

“Bounce and Beyond here we come,” says my little sister.
Driving for at least 2 hours and a half.  From time to time Bounce and Beyond was getting full and full.  We then left to the city to check this park out because it looked amazing.

Finally we arrive at the park and all we saw was two massive slides, we all start to laugh.  How about the pools? We then went back to the car and it was one long funny dramatic drive. Got to the YMCA pools and it was only two people swimming.  None of us wanted to swim expect my younger siblings, it was crack up because it was quiet and we were the only islander there.

Swimming for half an hour and then we go back and check out Bounce and Beyond.  It was ok watching them swim because they were swimming just 5 metres away from us.  Just as we were leaving more people came, heading to Bounce and Beyond was another long drive.   Bounce and Beyond was amazing for a minute but it became boring because the rides were kinda boring.

Welcome to term 4

Sign of God

I am learning to find signs in nature, that will help me know about God.

Rainbow, this rainbow is one of God’s creation.  He create this as an promise to Noah and his family.  God promised Noah and his family that he will sent them a signal when the flood is over. This signal was beautiful and outstanding, Noah knew it was God’s signal so he took his family and went back to Jerusalem.

Cross Country 2k15

“Get ready, Get Set and Go,” says Manu.
Year 0, 1 and room 4 ran as fast as they could. Geckos coming first, Tui’s coming second, Kiwi coming third and Keas coming last. That’s what the others thought but actually it kinda turned out the other way around.

Year 8 and 7 up, it was my turn to run. It was tiring, we were running like their were no more tomorrow. Everyone was huffing and puffing. 2 rounds and a half was exhausted, I couldn't take it anymore. Stitches on my stomach, legs dying, mouth dried, everything looks like their is no more tomorrow.

Tei coming first for the year 8 boys, Justin coming second for the year 8 boys, Frank coming third. Hola coming first for the year 8 girls, Lupe coming second, myself coming third, Catherine coming fourth.

Now it was time to do the chants, Kiwi went up first, Tui’s were second, Geckos were third and Keas were last. Tui’s won the chant competitions. Kiwi won the cross country 2k15, it was a good experiment for the Kiwi’s because it was their first time winning an school sport activity.

Warriors Visit

“Today we had a special guest,” speaks Mr Coakley.
“They are from the Warriors,” Mr Coakley added.
“David, Ken please come and introduce yourself,” Mr Coakley speaks again.

“For breakfast I had scrambled egg with toast,” speaks David Bhana.
“For breakfast I had weet bix with bacon and egg,” speaks Ken Maumalo.
“Let’s play a game, let’s see who is gonna win some prize,” speaks David.

We played a game, where we have to guess the card. Ken went first, he had to try and guess his card. His card was a broccoli, after Ken it was David’s turn. David’ card was a mango, when David finally finished they had to pick some of the students. David and Ken picked 6 students from St Pius X, when we finish playing the guessing game we played touch. The boys got some prize from Ken and David, the prizes was a Warrior bottle and a rugby ball.

Before David and Ken left we asked them some questions, when we finish asking them questions we took photos with Ken and David. My experience of meeting Ken and David are amazing, awesome, lovely, funny, best day. Ken and David were amazing and awesome, they drink 3 litres of water everyday. They have to be fit and eat a lot of healthy food, Ken and David and the rest of the Warriors only eat junk food one day a week.

Basic Facts

I have not prove because I still have the same score and the same time. Next time I will try my best to improve on my basic facts.

My Holiday

“What a fine morning,” speaks my sister Mele.
“We should call the Mangere family and ask them if they want to go Bowling or just go Time Zone,” speaks my brother Vili.
“Yeah we should,” speaks my nephew.
Rang them and my sister in law answers the phone. Mele starts talking with my sister in law about going Bowling and we should all meet up at Panmure at the Bowling Center. Half past 9 everybody got ready and went inside the car.

Finally we got to the Bowling Center, but the thing was we had to wait for about half an hour for my brother and his family.
Meanwhile my brother and his family finally got to the Bowling Center, everyone  went outside and ran to my brother and his family. “About time,” I said laughing.
Everyone went inside, some of us went to Time Zone while the other half went Bowling. I chose to go Time Zone first then go Bowling later.

From time to time everybody had fun but it had to come to an end because it was time for us to head back home. Nobody wanted to go home but we had no choice because the bowling center was about to close. So we said our goodbyes to my brother and his family and then went back home, once we got home we all settle down and watched Jumanji.
Just as the movie was about to start some of us was already dead asleep.

Until it was 8 o’clock everyone was fast asleep in their warm cozy bed.

I wrote this prayer in response to Lectio Divina.

A Voice From The Sky

Amazing caption, Jesus arrived at the River of Jordan. Jesus was getting baptized by John, son of Zechariah and Elizabeth. Jesus saw the sky opening up and a dove coming down. Suddenly a voice came from the sky said “This is my own dear son, with whom I am pleased.” The crowd was shocked and surprised, because they never knew that Jesus was God’s son. “What a shocking thought something was gonna happen real bad.” Says a witness in the crowd.

First Swimming Lesson

“Four people at a time” said our instructor Pam. Two instructor was inside the pool waiting for four people to go inside the pool.

One instructor was name Joseph and the other instructor was name Emma. Joseph was the instructor for group 1 and Emma was the instructor for group 2.

Pam was the main instructor, she was the one telling us what to do when we are out of the pool.

Joseph was my instructor, he was teaching us how to float. Joseph was really good at teaching us how to float, he was amazing.

Firstly Joseph teaches us how to do the dolphin crawl, it was difficult and fun at the same time. The dolphin crawl was very hard because we had to keep our hand straight up and keep it between our ears.

Secondly Joseph teaches us how to float, we had to lay on our back and face up. Joseph told us if we were sinking then we had to breath out so our stomach can stick out.

We had 3 more minutes and then we get out of the pool and then the next class comes in. Everybody started swimming and then it was time for us to jump out. We had so much fun swimming, hopefully tomorrow is gonna be like today.

Mother's day Writing

My mother’s name is Manu Kailea Manako, she is avenger height, long blonde bleach hair, sparkling brown eyes, tanish. My mother sounds like an angel and smells like rose. She is one caring mother that basically loves me and all my siblings. She is one hardworking mother that always take care of me and love me for who I am, that is why I have the best mum in the world.

My mother can be furious at time but yet I still love her even if she looks messy. My mother is like a teddy bear, whenever i’m cold she is there to cuddly me with her soft and warm hugs.  My mother means the world to me.  I have no idea where I will be without her support, my mother is my ride or die.

My mother is special because she was there for me since day 1, she knows when I’m hurt or mad. She makes me happy, she cooks for me, she loves me, she helps me, she supports me, she's there whenever I need her. My mother is the main person in my life because she’s one loving mother, no one can ever replace her place in my little heart.

My mother is the reason why I’m leaving in this earth, my mother is very proud to be a Tongan. My mother always told us not to forget our roots, my mother is always important to me and she is forever my angel.

Hokule'a arrives at New Zealand

Bushes blocking the path when we were trying to walk to Pt England Reserve, cars driving past us feels like it was having a race. Rubbish floating on the river feels like nobody cares about making our property clean and fresh. Students walking and sweating feels like they were gonna melt like chocolate. Finally reach Pt England was like we have made it to Heaven. Sat down on the tarpaulin and resting feels like we were sitting on the soft clouds. People taking photos of the waka feels like they were taking photos of someone special. Students singing and doing the haka feels like they were welcoming Jesus Christ.

Everybody welcomed the waka people by doing a haka and singing songs, the maori’s blew their horn and then sang their maori song to welcome them. A lot of people were taking photos and recording, Pt England was filled up with ten schools. Each school had 4 leaders to represent them, the 24 leaders lead us with every song and haka.

Every school came down to the shore to hi five the people who came on the waka. Everybody hi five the people who came on the waka and then went to the field and sat in their school, everybody went and had a picnic and went and play some schools went back to school like St Pius X Catholic School.

Some schools walked back to their school but some came in a bus when we were going back to school, we were walking until one of the teachers came running to us and told us that their is one bus left. Everybody was happy because they were tired, so we hopped inside the bus and went back to school.

Compound Sentences -   When we finish having our little munch we went and drop them off to their dorms. They took their bags and food and left, it feels like they were going forever.

Compound/Complex -  When we left Wesley we went back to Auckland and then we went to Otara. We had to go to Otara because they were a funeral happening. When we got to my cousins house at Otara, it was pack as so we had to look for a parking.

Complex Sentences - and the others were inside, we had to do a prayer and say some little memories we had.

Holiday recount

One sunny summer day, my church and I decided to go to the beach. The beach was called Shakespeare beach it was at North Shore, Whangaparaoa. It took us an hour to get there, we all went on a bus. When we got there we unpack our staffs, after that we went for a swim. We swim for a couple of hours and then we went and ate, after eating we head back to the beach to swim again. The water was nice and it was refreshing, massive waves. Watching the waves coming toward us reminds me of Piha, we got out of the sea when it was 7:00. We got change to our warm dry clothes and then we went and pack our staffs to head back home. We took selfies and done some video stars, we got home at 8:00 and then we went for a proper shower. We unpacked our staffs and put it back to where it belongs, we ate again and then we fell asleep. It was amazing, I can’t wait to go on our camp on april.

My profile 2015

Hello my name is Salote, I'm a year 8 this year.

I like listening to music and reading books. Music is my favorite subject in school. Writing is not my strength. I would like to work on improving my writing. I would like my teacher to know that it takes longer for me to understand concepts.
